I am a hairstylist. I'd like to know what others in this tribe do in the beauty industry.

I will recieve my license in Nail Technology come Jan 1st. I'm completing my training now. I do manicures, pedicures, acrylics (tips and sculpted), gels, and nail art. Nail art is my forte.
I want to branch out into mendhi. Also, if I'm doing a job at a client's house, for an extra $5 I'll clip their pets nails. It's a great add-on service because people hate doing it.

I think what we do fills a very primal need. Forget prostitution - grooming other primates is the true oldest profession.

I live and work in the 5 college area in Amherst/Northampton MA. I've been a hairdresser for about 13 years now I guess. Currently I work on the floor, I specialize in color, updo's, and chemical hair straightening. I previously worked for Redken as a Regional Performing artist. I worked all over New England, going into salons to teach classes, going to big hair shows and teaching small classroom, hands-on clinics, doing the models' hair for the platform artists, or personally assisting the International Performing artists. Nothing will teach you more than an experience like this! I'd highly recommend doing something like this. It's allot of work, but incredibly educational, rewarding, and lots and lots of fun!!!

      Hey Jules,

Redken's education is the best. I'm never disappointed with any Redken classes I attend. Why did you stop doing RPA stuff?

I'm also a hairstylist. I prefer doing short razor cuts and funky chunky hilites, but there isn't a whole lot of call for that where I live.

I am hairstylist here in San Francisco. I specialize in color, but also love cutting. I have been in the industry for about 10 years.
I am pretty well known for doing bold colors and edgy styles, especially on my fellow goths.

I'm a hairstylist in SF as well. Been one for about 15 years...Finally went to booth renting last September, and wish I did it earlier! It really renewed my enthusiasm in the industry. I like doing cuts and color, I hate styling. I love doing the 40's and 50's stuff...
